Mac: The Mediator Between Linux And Windows

By

The fiery debate about whether windows or linux is better has been going on for a long time now. Some like to argue about the benefits of a free operating system vs a bloated propriety operating system. Others like to point out the fact that linux has virtually no popular games designed to run on it. A mac computer may be the mediator between these two operating systems.

Mac OS has many of the features that both Windows and Linux users love. On the linux side of the fence, Mac OS is based on Unix. Security-wise, this means that Mac OS has the same level of security that linux does. Linux is know for having virtually no computer viruses written for it. Modern computer viruses writers love to target windows. On the other hand, Mac OS is more like windows in that it is a propriety operating system. It is not simply a linux distribution that you have to pay for. It is Unix based operating system that has its own privately managed code base. The lovely thing is that when apple designs a mac computer, it is know for prioritizing simplicity and aesthetics. It would make sense that they would apply this same attitude when developing Mac OS.

Unlike Windows which is designed to run on various hardware configurations, Mac OS is designed to run on specifically designed hardware. It doesn't have to worry about all the possible devices that might be used inside the computer. This was a major problem with old-era computers. Every time new computers came out, new operating systems had to be written to run on them. Mac OS takes the solution to this problem a step further. Everything in a mac computer is designed to work together as one well-designed product.

As a side benefit, using a mac computer is extremely popular with music producers and artists. If are buying a computer in order to use as a recording or digital art platform, a mac computer may be a great option.
